Laxmi Pangti is an Indian self-taught artist from Uttarakhand. She has always been passionate about the traditional and tribal-folk art of India and the world. Her forte is in the folk art form of Uttarakhand popularly known as ‘Aipan’. Aipan is the traditional art form of the specific Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. It is a great motley of geometric, mandala, and aesthetic art forms. Each & every prominent motif used in Aipan-making bears vital significance. She has taken a small initiative of modifying these traditional art forms into a contemporary form without altering much of their cultural authenticity. Laxmi has a Master’s degree in Genetics & Plant Breeding from GBPUA&T, Pantnagar. She uses a wide range of mixed media from ink to acrylic. She also creates digitally and loves experimenting with new mediums & innovative approaches!
